Catamount Stadium
Located off of Rt. 7 in Milton, Catamount Stadium was a 1/3 mile paved oval that operated from June of 1965 until 1987, at which time it was closed to make way for what is now Catamount Industrial Park. The track was originally built and owned by W.G. Fitzgerald and hosted ACT, NASCAR North, and the usual modifieds, Hobby classes, etc. Through its manager, Tom Curley, it can be said that Catamount was the original home of both the ACT and NASCAR North series, which he founded. The tracks last owner, Ken Squier (of CBS Sports/Daytona 500 broadcast fame) was born and raised in VT and also owned Milton Speedway which was a drag strip.
The industrial park road splits what is left of the track in two. The bankings are easily identifiable along with the parking lot and pit area.
A track called Autodrome Montmagny in Quebec City, QC is reportedly a good replica of the original Catamount track.
