New Hampster

Less than grand larceny.

They're everywhere.

Issues.

Reason.

Solution.

Result.

Dogs came to not assist.

Milkcrate as engine. Bored .030 over.

Some icebreaking was going on.

It pays to take the long way home.

Old Friends
I noticed my man Eric Kovall posted a comment a while back. He mentioned a visit he and the boys made back when I was living on Grant Street, right after I got fired from Burton. They stayed at my place for a few days and we rode Stowe during a pretty good storm. It was classic Stowe form, really, with Whirlaway looking great, the jump at the bottom in all-time shape, and all kinds of little spots (including the one Eric mentioned, which we actually hit this year for the first time in a LONG time during the Valentine's Day storm) were happening. Eric, nice to hear from you.

On Friday Maven had their 40s and Fried Chicken show. There was some real good stuff. I like James Lindars' tiki deck, Marin's heart, Michael's stuff, Mikey's fries...I actually liked a lot of the stuff. What I really liked though was seeing another old friend from NH, Bryan Knox, there with his new spawn.

I first met Knox in 1992 during pre-season riding at Sunday River. He was riding for Joyride at the time. He had the sickest FS shifties and he even did a 720, which, for pre-season riding, was no mean feat. I have many Knox stories but we'll leave them for another time. He, his lady (Anne Molin Kongsgaard) and his kid all look to be doing well, and he just left his long-time employer to take on the role of team director (or some such thing) for Forum. Not bad for a kid from Conway.

Haven't posted anything in a coon's age so I will do some backdated updates right now. For the mighty ACS Eagles, your photo of Rivet:

Craziness Vol. 12

Stumbled across this place during a car ride on Sunday. I don't even know where to start, so I won't.

And now...pizza.
This was a decompression weekend. Friday it started to dump but we managed to pick up new carpet for our bedroom. Saturday we worked around the house then decided to go for a ride to Glens Falls. We took a little drive around town and I saw a sign that said "Brooklyn Pizza." Done. See, Pizza in VT basically sucks. Pizza everywhere but NY, CT, RI, and Mass. sucks. Don't kid yourselves. Some day someone is going to do a study proving that the water in those states is superior to that in other states, making ruling pizza possible. So anyway, we pulled in because I knew by the look of the sign that this place meant business.

The pizza was great. Not "best ever" (that title belongs to Kickapoo Pizza in CT) but real solid.

The calzone, on the other hand, did get "best ever" props from Ali. After having been disappointed by the last few calzones she had tried, this one more than made up for it. So, when in Glens Falls, go to Brooklyn Pizza...and keep your jiveass flatbread to yourself.

Still more hot dogs

Rode today. Hoped it was going to be spring slush, but we were let down. On the way back we stopped at Stowe Dogs. I had never eaten there before. Here is a quick review.

Name: Dumb. Stowe Dogs. Too "action-ski town" for me.
Menu: Big. See above. Good variety. Dumb names. The place has this dog theme as in "four legged friend" dog, and the hot dogs are named (I think) after peoples' dogs.
Dogs: Great. I tried the Kosher dog (Hebrew National) and the "Jake" dog, which was definitely in the vein of the Coney dog we know and love. They were both great. The guy that worked there didn't know what a Coney was though.
Other: Stewart's sodas, good fries.
Verdict: As good as it is going to get in these parts. Atmosphere was a little lame, but the food, which is what really counts, was right on.
